Now you're making excuses for Saddam not meeting the UN's demands.

The UN put sanctions on Saddam for good reason .. he'd invaded and tried to annex parts or all of two neighboring countries and had USED WMD's against both Iran and Kurds.

Note how Blix never once says he can confirm a single piece of Bush's worthless intelligence.

The duty was on Saddam to show he'd done away with all the WMD's the UN KNEW he'd had.

Since we know the UN had unfettered access to all sites in Iraq didn't it have some duty to prove its case?

UN inspectors had been out of Iraq since 98. BTW Clinton had all kinds of problems with Saddam too, given the US being the chief enforcer of the UN's resolutions, regardless of who's President. They were invited back about 4 months before the war began only because the US sent troops to the Gulf. Hardly time to search an entire country.

And Saddam didn't have the right to be assumed innocent till Bush proved him guilty. Saddam WAS guilty and had been found so years before by the UN. HE had the duty to comply.

AFTER the war, Blix concluded Saddam had in fact done away with most or all of his WMD's but didn't want to admit it in order not to lose face. However, he had the ability and will to make new ones all over again ... and if he'd lived and remained in power, he would've done so.
