It's odd that Obama didn't propose trillions in new spending but it's his fault. Trump is proposing trillions of dollars of new debt and fiscal conservatives are okay with it.

During the Great Recession, losses were so massive that many companies and individuals didn't pay any taxes for years. Add to that the automatic spending that kicks in and the drop in revenue from lost jobs and i was a perfect storm for debt creation.

Bush's last budget which was Obama's first year in office had a deficit of $1.4 trillion. That was more debt than all the presidents from George Washington thru the first couple years of Reagan combined...and that was just one year.
