Microsoft tries to move TCI from Java www5.zdnet.com

What a surprise that is. I'm sure the alternative is "open", too, in the Microsoftese sense anyway. This is the entire story, WSJ readers can get the details there I guess. Presumably they at least are still in Bill's camp. How many $billion will it take Bill to convince my former bete noir, Big John Mallone, formerly best known for "500 channels of carp"?

Microsoft Corp. is trying to push cable operator Tele-Communications Inc. away from using Sun Microsystems Inc.'s Java, according to the Wall Street Journal. The paper reported that TCI wants to use Java in set-top boxes that will also use Microsoft's Windows CE operating system, but that Microsoft is trying to push Java out of the picture. -- Michael Fitzgerald, ZDNN

Cheers, Dan.
