Thanks for the link.

"January-June China's imports of 15,261 tons of lithium carbonate, an increase of 59.44%" and "Sub-region, China's imports of lithium carbonate from Chile 9725 tons, up 65.82% year this year" was very helpful.

Regarding ending subsidies, "China slashed subsidies on car sales by 20 percent in January and will phase them out completely by 2020."

Financial Times

I've been following the charging station issue so I'm familiar with the infrastructure the government is creating to support electric cars.

It's also my understanding that the Chinese government picks winners and losers so they're reducing subsidies to companies that don't meet certain undefined goals. Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group commented that they don't know what the standards will be so they don't know how to plan. It's an odd way to do things, odd in that it's far different than in the US.

I also have my doubts about Tesla and its CEO. I previously wrote that he's 90% bullcrap and 10% genius. I think he admits he's a salesman more than a businessman. Time will tell. He has an impressive sports car but he'll need more time to mass produce his cars. As always we can only hope for the best.

I found it disturbing that Musk didn't invite WSJ reporters to his plant after they did a hit piece on his production line. If his production line is up and running as he says then why not invite the reporters in so they can correct their mistake?
