There was only a general reference that Putin had kompromat on Hillary in the dossier. And you're making the common mistake that the financers dictated to Steele what to find. Or that he invented it.

Steele had been Britain's top intelligence officer on Russia for a very long time before he retired. I suspect pretty much everything he uncovered has something legit behind it.

That Russia would seek and obtain kompromat on both candidates is to be expected. That both parties sought kompromat on the other isn't controversial either. We know they do that and did that. It's called opposition research.

What's bad is that they were both compromised.
