NO, you are wrong. The reason Tesla do not need to partner with China, is due to they will set up their factory, God needs when, in Shanghai's Free Trade Zone! But their product will subject to 25% import tax.

But As I said, Tesla is MORE hyping than the actual lead. Their battery may have some Advantage ahead of other, but that is it! Fancy designs worth NOT much.

There is NO so called direct technology transfer to China, Period! But China did pay HIGH premium and buy out some technology, such as the early stage of HSR from Germany, Japanese, and another country. But then China has improved and completely Combined and revamped all three major bought technology, now China has their OWN MOST advanced HSR system!
