President Clinton and the Democratic Party tax increases put us on a path of balanced budgets AND paying down all our debt. Bush's tax cuts were based on the Clinton surpluses. But the surpluses were based on higher taxes not lower taxes. The explosion of debt by this generation is unprecedented in American history; debt from wars that are chosen and based on lies, tax cuts and the failure of one party to ever raise taxes. Since entitlements existed under Clinton and we had balanced budgets with those entitlements blaming entitlements is a stretch.
