LOL. I remember we had this debate on the AMD thread when I first started posting over there. Had to be 15 or more years ago.

I've always been of the opinion the imbalance of power made it different from the bentway perspective, that she was 23, beyond the age of consent, hence, it was all okay. I just don't agree.

To be sure, when I was young I knew numerous 23 year olds who were capable of dealing with such situations. And average 23 year olds can engage in consensual relationships with average 23 year old young men with no difficulty. But presidents are different.

But I will agree it isn't EXACTLY like date rape drugs. Just that conceptually, there is some crossover.

I do not believe it was the same as the Juanita Broaderick rape (some might say alleged) in which the victim was over-powered not with the aphrodisiac of power but with raw physical power. That is how we used to define rape in the pre-Packwood era. Now, kissing someone who'd rather you hadn't is perceived being close to rape.
