Because most of the companies I deal with:

1) Have too much legacy code that they don't have the time / money / inclination / developers to support must less rewrite.

2) JAVA is still viewed as "work-in-progress".

3) Y2000 problem is draining budgets.

4) Too many IS departments have VB gurus and they don't want to retrain them or hire more expensive C++ / JAVA programmers.

Because of #4, my partner and I have been able to fund our own product development efforts by writing controls that most VB programmers can't even imagine doing.
