Lisa, buy and sell programs are just that... computer programs that slice and dice small advantages between markets but with a lot of volume. They're not written in stone, they're written in C++ and who knows what else... with some supervisory staff that make sure the trades make sense before they let the computers do their thing. The orders are electronic and faaaaassssstttter than you can blink.

I've tried to get real time data on them but never could. I suspect when you're on the floor you see it happen in a blitz of basket activity on the tape and a balancing/leveling between markets that disolves the spread. It happens so fast and requires so much money to play that I don't know any individual who's taken advantage of programs other than to expect they might happen for technical reasons and be there before hand with an order to both get in and get out within a probable program trading range.

If you find a size and volume source let me know... thanks

Jim
