There are many problems with that article though I agree with the basic premise.

For example, it says we've had the petrodollar for four decades implying that the US dollar was the global currency for only 40-years. This is incorrect. Prior to the 1973 deal with Saudi Arabia, we had a gold-based currency which was also the US dollar so the global currency has been the US dollar since 1944. But was it only because the dollar was based on gold or was it because the US helped win WW2? I'd suggest it was the latter.

China can't defend Saudi Arabia or the Middle East from attack (yet, but someday soon it will). But the wars we started in the Middle East turned them against us. The rise of Trump (Russia's chosen leader of the US) also destabilized Europe so they know think they need to protect themselves and not depend on the US. It's this global dependence on US military might that gives us the one tool left in our arsenal. Without our military free trade would cease to exist. Trump wants to undo all of our free trade agreements. He simply lacks the intellect to be president but so did Bush 43 and Reagan. This move towards Chinese dominance can't be stopped. They will win and there's nothing we can do about it.

When world leaders meet they agree unanimously that China has the most efficient government. With the same unanimity, they agree the US has the least efficient government. But we can't say it was caused by Trump. This consensus was created during the Obama years when republicans crippled every aspect of our government and republican voters were okay with it.

This move towards making America a far weaker country has been going on for many decades. By the time most Americans learn what they've done it'll be too late. The explosion of debt under Reagan and Bush are perfect examples of republicans spending decades weakening every future generation with their unpaid bills - thus crippling their ability to lead the world.
