The BW article for me is just formula piece of journalism

The author starts with truism. Intl is a good long term investment. Well sure if you bought it at 20-40 a share.

Then the author comes up with it will go to a 100 bit. Since this is a stretch but will be loved by some he throws in look at the R&D budget as rationale. Well look at IBM's R&D budget during its prime. Intel's R&D is focused on catchup products like Merced not state of the art new developments.

But the real point is in the last part of the article. The firm interviewed is trying to atttach a biotech company to Intel based on R&D expenses.

The article is a fairly shameless plug aimed at people that look for hot tips and any theory to guide their investments.

============================
Now I reach all these conclusions based on my own experience with how the press works. This article is hack work.

There is no disputing that Intel is a good long term investment at some price. This author seems to want us to believe (a) Intel will reach new highs soon (b) Intel is at the bottom of its range. Both seem highly unlikely given where the stock is trading.

This article doesn't help us.
