BTW, the Sutherland shooting tragedy shows gun laws are no panacea. This guy couldn't legally possess a gun in Texas but he got one anyway. The people we have to worry about don't obey the laws.

Another thing we can learn from this is that guns in private hands can stop an attack. In a society where no one but police was armed, this man could have killed everyone at the church, then left the scene to go somewhere else and continue his massacre there.

We know the killer's mother in law attended the church but wasn't there that morning. He probably intended the attack to take out his ex-wife and her entire family.

If a good guy with a gun hadn't prevented it,he might very well have got to her home to start killing everyone there. He would likely have kept killing till police stopped him or he ran out of ammo.
