De Beers will spend $51 million on diamond jewelry marketing in the United States in 1998. De Beers declined to announce the total
promotion budget which is expected to be some $200 million worldwide. Next year's U.S. campaign will focus on the promotion of four types
of diamond jewelry: Diamond engagement rings, diamond anniversary bands, diamond solitaire necklaces and diamond solitaire pieces in
general. The company is running advertisements for the 1997 Christmas season in the Wall Street Journal among other leading
national publications and television networks...."
