It doesn't matter what the acceptance rate is.
It does because it suggests that there were plenty of other well-qualified candidates to choose from, even among those falling under the "diversity" standards.
The right skin color and the right connections will get you into anywhere.
Connections fall under the "legacy applicant" category, which still amounts to a great deal.
