What I am trying to do, is to get an easily carry able light computing device to take on short holidays.

I've been dragging an old netbook (Acer) and a tablet on ski trips and trips to Europe. I use the netbook 99% of the time for everything except email. The cell phone and tablet is fine for email or checking websites (train and flight schedules) or getting boarding passes.

The netbook/small laptop comes in very handy if you need to add or transfer programs. In my case older programs were not available on the web for download to the tablet. I preferred the netbook/laptop for purchases and I preferred using a small travel mouse.

The answer depends on what you are going to do on holiday. If you can access your office functions from a tablet, go with that. Even the tiny netbook gets heavy after a while lugging it around.
