In high school, our whole class was let out to walk down to a movie theater to see West Side Story. It had recently come out. The opening scene had me - the vertical lines turn into the skyline of New York City from the south harbor. Then the camera flies over the streets, with whistling in the background, until it comes upon the tenement playground with the Jets backed up against the chain-link fence snapping their fingers.
