Chinese communism has not lifted people out of poverty. It was when they started liberalizing their economy and instituting some semblance of market reforms that the creativity and innovation of capitalism started lifting the Chinese out of poverty. But there is something far more pernicious in China's form of capitalism. The Chinese miracle has been built on a house of debt fueled cards that is not sustainable. It will come crashing down at some point in the future.

In addition, within the US, since we created the Federals Reserve in 1913, our own capitalism has been utterly perverted by the manipulation of money and interest rates. We no longer have capitalism either. We have a centrally planned economy and socialism. At best, we have crony capitalism and at worst, we have Fascism. But don't call what we have Capitalism. That, it is not.

So the solution isn't to throw the baby out with the bathwater and embrace Socialism. That is the height of ignorance, when you see the unblemished track record of Socialism to destroy the wealth of nations when fully embraced. Look no further than Venezuela for a country that has all the resources it needs to be the wealthiest country in LATAM, and instead, their people are starving. Capitalism in the US has been the secret sauce that lifted our country to fantastic wealth and raised the standard of living of everyone in our country, so much so that our poor don't looks so bad compared to the poor from other countries. We're still a magnet for the poor from other countries, despite Trump's anti-immigration bias.

Socialism is getting popular in this country, because there has been a general epidemic of amnesia and ignorance of history going on in this country. Time for all the Socialists to pick up some books on economic history and reacquaint themselves with the absolute disaster that Socialism brings. Choosing less Freedom for physical or economic security is almost never be the answer.
