Josh:

I voted yes but that was a long time ago. In today's world (at least here in CT) both dogs and cats will end up bringing in ticks and while they eventually fall off (if the pet is protected with a collar as well as vaccinated) the tick can then end up biting the owner.

While it has been documented the borrelia can take over 24 hours to pass from the tick midgut through the siliva to infect if the tick had started to feed on the pet the clock already started if the tick had initially started to feed on the pet. Other TBD infections don't take as long to pass from the vector to the new host.

Also, one can't go by the CDC surveillance of tick infections. It is not just limited to the "deer" tick and upper east coast and mid west.

Best,

Tim
