Recently, Caroline Glick wrote an article where she describes what happened when Netanyahu was prime minister the first time around, back in the 1990's. In many ways, it was a disaster. His policies were blocked and criticized; he was very unpopular. The Left ate him alive. (Describing it, Glick was looking for parallels with the Trump presidency).

Eventually, he ended up being a one-term prime minister. To the whole world, he was a failure. However, (as per George Gilder's account) during his tenure he managed to pass pro-business legislation - and made important agreements with the labor unions. The reforms that he managed to push through created a very different, pro-business and pro-capitalist climate in the country.

That's the reason that Israel right now is a developed nation and a high tech powerhouse. Prior to that, under the socialists, their big exports were things like oranges - and cheap souvenirs. Not anymore.

I think that Trump presidency will NOT be inconsequential.
