Christianity made many Roman citizens into pacifists Some people put Christianity down for all Christians not being pacifists. But Roman Christians weren't mostly pacifists. Neither were the Christian Goths who sacked Rome*. That's right the Goths converted peacefully about the same time the Roman empire itself did. Also peacefully. That's actually the rule in Christianity, conversion by force the exception.

* Rome wasn't actually the capital of the western empire at the time by the way. Ravenna was.
