We didn't always have balanced budgets before Reagan. Tax increases were mostly sponsored by Republicans who functioned as tax collectors for the welfare state the Democrats cheerfully created. When Democrats stop raising the debt ceiling the US will collapse. Funny given you're on record as saying the debt ceiling has no purpose. Message 31265870
