A condolence note from Donald Trump to Kelly Preston after the death of her son quickly devolved into a story of how she rejected his advances.

In 2009, just days after 16-year-old Jett, the son of Preston and John Travolta, died after a seizure on vacation, Trump blogged on the now-defunct Trump University website.

“A long time ago, before I was married, I met Kelly Preston at a club and worked like hell to try and pick her up,” Trump wrote in a Jan. 6 post discovered by Mother Jones.

“She was beautiful, personable, and definitely had allure. At the time I had no idea she was married to John Travolta.”

The language is similar to that of the Republican presidential candidate’s comments in a leaked 2005 video in which Trump talked about hitting on Nancy O’Dell, a married television host.

“In any event, my track record on this subject has always been outstanding, but Kelly wouldn’t give me the time of day. She was very nice, very elegant, but I didn’t have a chance with her, and that was that,” Trump wrote.

“When I later found out she was married to John, I liked and respected her even more. Some people have values that matter to them, and she is one of them. Her loyalty was unwavering and I have always remembered that about her.”

The real estate mogul eventually wrapped up his blog post by expressing his condolences for the family, but not before inappropriate comments about yet another woman.
