John Conyers (D-MI) Sexually Harassed an Employee & Settled the Case

Settled it with taxpayer money that is. Make him pay the taxpayers back.

by Erick Erickson
Democrat John Conyers of Michigan settled a sexual harassment suit after firing an employee who resisted his advances.

BuzzFeed reports that John Conyers, a ranking Democrat who first got elected to Congress in 1964, settled a sexual harassment case with an employee who refused his sexual advances.

Documents from the complaint obtained by BuzzFeed News include four signed affidavits, three of which are notarized, from former staff members who allege that Conyers, the ranking Democrat on the powerful House Judiciary Committee, repeatedly made sexual advances to female staff that included requests for sexual favors, contacting and transporting other women with whom they believed Conyers was having affairs, caressing their hands sexually, and rubbing their legs and backs in public. Four people involved with the case verified the documents are authentic.

In 2015, Conyers fired a staff member who resisted his sexual advances. Conyers, you may remember, is married to a former Detroit City Councilwoman who went to jail due to her dealings in office. Though routinely elected to Congress, Conyers has seen Detroit regress significantly since the time he got elected. He is the ranking Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee.
