Looks like the FCC approved the ATSC 3.0 proposal last week at their meeting, and widespread deployment is expected to begin starting in January.

I'm all for anything that supports cord cutting. I plan on dumping Comcast/Xfinity TV next year when my contract is up for renewal and will go with TiVo Roamio OTA DVRs to record local over-the-air signals, everything else I'll get through streaming.

I'll keep Comcast for internet service, which has been very fast and reliable, but I can't stand their TV service and outrageous pricing. My cable bill went up over 19% this year. Shameful.
