And the Nordic countries are not that tiny and what difference does size make?

The Nordic countries are tiny.

Combined they have surely well less than 10% of the US population.

The size of the countries mean they are wholly reliant on the United States and others for self-protection (i.e., minimal defense expenditures). More substantially, it means they don't have to have 20 layers of bureaucracy in government and can get things done. Government of the country is more like that of a city. There is far less bureaucracy and waste, and people know each other better. (There are lousy bureaucrats there like here, but fewer of them).

We have provided the rest of the world with capital, products, great ideas, and economic support for decades. Eventually, that helps them. There is no doubt these countries have benefited.
