Mr. cats,

My own recollection of Waco, which has quickly faded with time and may not be very complete, is that although Janet was definitely new at the job, she had been there for a little while. I also recall that BATF wanted some good publicity, and they were gung ho for violence, and manipulated the situation for their own glory. Of course, it backfired on them. But the strongest memory I have is that Janet was persuaded, well, manipulated in a calculated way, really, to go ahead with the raid because she was under the impression children were being abused at the compound.

Well, now, David Koresh definitely had a taste for very, very, young women, but there was no evidence at all that children were being abused at all. After the raid backfired, she used the children's welfare as the reason she agreed to the raid, but when pressed by the news media later, she could not provide any evidence of child abuse. Obviously, a few abused children are better than a lot of burned-to-death children in any event, but it seemed clear to me that Janet was lying, and also that she had trusted her staff more than she should have. Whether she made the final decision for the raid, or whether Clinton did, is hard to say. Do you know?

There is no doubt Janet Reno has balls, however. Perhaps your recollection of all these events is better than mine, and you could explain what you think happened.

I bet no one will ever be able to figure out why I thought David Koresh was sexy, though! I sure have no idea at all.
