Creating a Screen Saver Taskbar shortcut in Windows 10:

My screen saver has not been working in Windows 10. I tried all of the methods that are described on various websites explaining how to activate it in Windows 10; but none of them seemed to work. So I created a screen saver Taskbar shortcut to activate the screen saver.

Here is what I did.

First I found the screen saver that I wanted to use. I choose Mystify for my screen saver. It is located in C:\Windows\System32\Mystify.scr
Once I located it in File Explorer, I right clicked on it and selected Send To: Desktop (create shortcut).

Clicking on the desktop shortcut icon activates the screen saver.

But I wanted it on the taskbar for quick and easy access. So I right clicked on the shortcut icon and selected Properties. In the Target box, I added Explorer in front of the screen saver file, so the Target box now contains:
"C:\Windows\explorer.exe C:\Windows\System32\Mystify.scr". Then I clicked Apply and then OK.

Now I could right click on the Icon and select "Pin to Taskbar".

But first I decided I wanted to change the Icon, so I right clicked on the icon and selected "Properties" Then I selected the Change Icon button and choose a more appealing Ion for the shortcut and clicked Apply and then OK.

Then I right clicked on the new shortcut and selected "Pin to Taskbar" and "BINGO", I now have a Screen Saver Icon on the Taskbar for quick and easy access.

B.K.
