Thanks for the comparison. I did a similar comparison and arrived at the conclusion that you can not configure a similar system from CPQ via their home online website..

They do not have the larger monitors on their website and the systems themselves are much less configurable. For example, I could not get rid of the DVD or Dolby sound. Also the modem is fixed to the machine.

This speaks to the difference a CPQ manfacturing process for desktop computers which is quite different than DELL's true BTO model. CPQ is allowing one the customer to change a few options but not to actually build the system from scratch. I think that this neans they are still primarily build to forecast manufacturers with some second process stage options configurability.

Anyway they appear to be higher priced than DELL when allowance is made for the DVD. I still have not figured out if their 3-year service plan is the equivalent of DELL.
