Right. There was a major break between AngularJS, i.e. Angular 1, and Angular 2. The rest are backwardly compatible with Angular 2, so the later ones are refinements. Not that the differences are necessarily trivial, but once you wrap your head around the way Angular 2 wants you to do things, you should be ok with the others.

A downside to Angular 2 and the following is that you pretty much have to do things its way. Try and get creative and your life will be miserable. Do things its way and you can do magic. Me, I have been doing Rails for a long time. And it is very similar. You can do things in other ways than what Rails wants. But your code will be buggy, have unusual behaviors and be a nightmare to maintain.
