Thanks for that info.
I've done only a few web apps over the years, all in asp.net/C#/SQLServer with DevExpress ajax components. Which really gave us a good result, I thought. I'd rather be doing mobile, and like working with SWIFT (although, I could live without Objective C). But I want to work 5-10 more years, if I can, and I my age beggars can't be choosers. The hard part is I've spent most of the last 25 years doing medical systems -- billing, accounting, lab interfaces, that sort thing, and I'd really rather do something different for a while.
We are, shortly, going to relocate to around The Woodlands somewhere, Conroe, or Spring, something like that. At least, that's the plan. Looks like there's quite a bit to do around that area.
IoT holds great promise and one can imagine lots of great applications for it. Would love to be working with some of that. Medical, security, industrial, just about everywhere you can think of great ideas for it...
I don't know where I'm headed work-wise; I just don't think I could tolerate not working at this point. But the great thing is essential stuff -- fundamentals of languages, data structures, algorithms, pretty much haven't changed that much so it does come back easily. |
