Hi Rob,

FYI, Microsoft didn't warn about a slowdown. What happened was that they filed their 10-K with the SEC. That 10-K contained the statements made about 3 months ago by the CFO in the analysts meeting; that things had gone really well over the previous year and the management thought things would slow down a bit. In fact MSFT promptly lost 10 points and the market recovered only when Intel announced their earnings for the year. All that happened in July.

Why Reuters chose to make a story about a comment made 3 months earlier (but only recently filed with the SEC) i have no idea. But MSFT have not made any comments about this quarter's revenue or earnings, so I presume they'll come in slightly above analysts expectations as usual.
