3D NAND is merely a stop gap measure to next gen technologies. 3D is pretty much crap and has low durability. Samsung increased durability by increasing die size when they stacked. HDD technology has an incredibly long life time. The 20MB drive in my 1986 IBM PC-AT is still going strong after all these years.
