From what I read about the fall of empires they each suffered from one problem. The expanded far beyond their borders so military spending had to increase. It also meant fewer and fewer men were working since they were in the military and so tax revenue fell as spending increased.

In the US republican get around this problem by never raising taxes, always cutting them, always increasing spending and always exploding the debt. Needless to say, they are the most unfit people to ever live in this country. I strongly support banning the gop.
