I don't think it's so much a case of Mac Users swtiching a) PC sales growing much faster than Mac sales over the last few years and b) Mac having a far greater lifespan.

Also, according to figures released by both MSFT and AAPL, there are more MacOS users than Win95ers. So AAPL's market share of the installed base is far greater than its annual sales volume would indicate. They also buy more software than their PC brethren -- both items important to software developers.

Something like 80% of all the Macs made since 1984 are still in use. I sell refurbs, I know! (I heard Porsche once manufactured a prototype guaranteed to run for 10 years. Guess why they never actually marketed it.)

Apple user loyalty is no myth but it is a double-edged sword.
