| | | I think the target is Trump, who has so far not only persevered, but prospered. All attempts to negate the election result have failed: The Tainted Candidate ploy has failed. The Trump Dossier has failed. The Collusion story has failed. The Obstruction story is in the process of failing. The impeachment vote today failed miserably. The only option remaining is to create a story bigger than Trump and then sweep him aside with the same condemning brush.
Trump's enemies have been busy trying to re-establish shreds of credibility to the Democratic Party. The Democratic operatives have been busy paving the way with sacrifices for the past 2 months with story after story of sexual harassment of both weak and powerful women, followed by the pogrom's comeuppance - exactly the same kind of witch trial tactics that committees have been waging against young men at universities for the past few years, except now they're eating their own. They intend to stand on this mountain of dead careers and personalities, declare feminist victory and holy moral authority, and then swing their arms to point at Trump - the true target from the start.
I believe it will fail, but I think that's what is coming.
Just a side note, while it's gratifying to see these loathsome men hauled up for their piggish, predatory behavior, it's deeply worrying to see it happening in the absence of any legal framework, especially when many of these cases are decades past. 'As ye sow, so shall ye reap' comes to mind.... |
