How do you rip out the monitor driver on WIN 10?

Similar thing happened to me about 2 weeks ago. I've lost the HD resolution on my monitor; and SLEEP option for the SHUTDOWN command.

I've unsuccessfully tried to replace the monitor driver, find a new one, and unsuccessfully attempted to uninstall the monitor to force Windows to reinstall the driver. So far I've been unsuccessful.

My max resolution available is 1280 x 1024; I've selected 1280 x 960 as it's the least distorted.
