What am I missing on that flag?

If you look at the lower right corner of the star field you see two stars diagonal to each other. It's a 49-star flag - seven rows of seven stars. That's what the flag in your header had.



Here's the 50-star flag (until California secedes, of course), with the stars in the lower right corner of the star field as noted by Sr K (1, 3, 5, etc. diagonally).
