I'm not sure about the rest of you, but this holiday I've been noticing I can find a lot of consumer electronics at par or lower prices on sites like Best Buy vs Amazon. And I am just noting that my loyalty to Amazon wavers quickly (I even get free shipping as a Guest at bestbuy.com, whereas at amazon.com I'd have to be Prime). To me that suggests that Amazon's future profit margins are likely to reflect those of the past unless they decide to compromise volume. They could even get worse.
