12/8/2017 Contest update
During my time in absentia two of our most SAGE-acious Contestants cleverly made their move. Almost as impressive, despite some scary days, was the overall performance of the Contest stock picks, with Six portfolios now showing YTD gains greater than 100%.
At Friday’s close, the Contest median was up a remarkable 45.47% YTD (vs. up 41.11% three weeks ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was up 20.41% YTD (vs. up 17.51% three weeks ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI), was up 42.03% YTD (vs. up 37.83% three weeks ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed up 27.07% YTD (vs. up 26.00% three weeks ago).
Taking the Contest lead with a 20% SAGE allocation is IMAN’s portfolio, sporting a spectacular 127.50% YTD gain. A nose behind in second place with a 10% SAGE allocation is KMASTR’s portfolio, up 126.76% YTD. Both the IMAN and KMASTR portfolios also hold MRNS, by far the top Contest pick for the year with a 678.22% YTD gain. In third place is ROBO’s portfolio, up 109.34% YTD.
At Friday's close, 45 of the 48 Contest portfolios were in the green, with no less than 38 now beating the NBI and 27 still beating the SPSIBI.
The 195 Contest portfolio stock picks have an average YTD gain of 35.15% and a median YTD gain of 8.08%, with 107 of the 195 picks up for the year.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the prior three weeks ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None.
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a safe & fun weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
