SALT LAKE CITY, Sept 25 (Reuter) - Alpha Pro Tech Ltd said Wednesday it has signed an expanded exclusive, five-year distribution agreement with VWR Scientific Products Corp <VWRX.O> worth five times the original value.
The pact calls for VWR Scientific, a supplier of laboratory equipment, chemicals and supplies, to purchase $5 million of products each year from Alpha Pro Tech until August 14, 2001.
In 1994, Alpha Pro Tech signed a five-year distribution agreement with a unit of Baxter International Inc <BAX.N> to buy $1 million in products each year from Alpha.
The agreement was amended because VWR Scientific acquired Baxter's industrial and life sciences division in 1995. At that time, the two companies decided to expand the contract.
VWR will supply Alpha's line of face masks, eye shields and protective clothing to the pharmaceutical, chemical, electronic and biotechnology industries.
