To be fair, the country has moved so far to the Right that there is a bit of a difference now between Democrats and Republicans insofar as the later is looking to cut Medicare and SS. The problem with the Democratic Party is that maybe 1/3 of them in Congress are progressive. The Sander's wing of the Party is very hostile to the mainstream Dems. As far as the US population goes, maybe 40%-45% of them liked Bernie. But there is an education problem. In Clarke County, the major criticism I hear from Californians, New Yorkers and those from Chicago and Detroit about the locals here are that they are uneducated. And there is a lot of truth to that. The Mexicans here are very aware of what is going on, but they are primarily from CA.
