First of all, I find it hard to believe that WDC would allow Bain and Apple to have a real say in operations. Or, for that matter, Toshiba. Why would they?

Second, I see the real threat being Hynix being able to appropriate their trade secrets and taking them back to Korea. Supposedly that won't happen for three years. What is the three year thing about, anyway? Why three years? What do they get in three years?

There was murky stuff in this. Hopefully it will get clearer over time. We'll see.
