This is a very funny and very sad Christmas story of our times...

metro.co.uk

UCL apologises for asking students if they’re ‘dreaming of a white campus’

They Tweeted to the campus:

Dreaming of a white campus? Our campuses will be open and operating fully today, Monday 11 December, so please make your way in as planned. (We can't guarantee snow but we'll try!)

Obviously they offended someone!
How dare they!
So they tweeted this apology (here we go):

We chose our words very poorly yesterday when thinking of this song: t.co[Bing Cosby's White Christmas] We’re sorry and we’ll choose our words more carefully in the future.

The resultant Tweets are precious, here are a few:

People on social media were quick to mock the university for apparently giving into the ‘snowflakes’.

What? Are you mad? Who has managed to convince you that they were offended? It cannot be true.

Oh ffs. Stop crumbling to pressure by permanent offendotrons.

And the two best ones (I can't decide which one I like better!):

So it appears snowflakes are upset over snowflakes.

You really didn't, y'know. You're merely adding fuel to the fire by even acknowledging it. Something along the lines of, "Don't be absurd. You know very well what we meant", would have more than sufficed. You mentioned the word "snow" 3 times, for goodness' sake.
