First, liberals such as myself believe individual rights (not state rights) must be protected and defended at all cost. We also believe that any sane person pays for what he spends so that means no tax cuts as long as there are deficits and debt. We pay for things with money and money comes from taxes. We're still sane.
We also believe in technology. Hell, liberals created most of it. The great companies of the 21st century were created by liberals. Companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix etc. changed the way we interact with each other and generated massive wealth. We've made the world a better place. Our ideas are admired across the globe as others try to emulate what we created. Liberals social policies are accepted by every Fortune 500 company.
We believe in science and don't think fox news has any climate experts on their staff so they need to shut up. We believe the middle class will be destroyed by technology also, with machines and AI taking jobs away from people and generating wealth that is only going to the stock market. So we need to change the way we do business and that means putting the best minds to the task, not morons like Paul Ryan, Mitch McConnell and Trump who don't have a clue how to govern. They're more fit to be tyrants of their individual domains and unworthy of being called Americans.
We also believe the US has to lead by example. When we go to war and find out the war was based on lies we need to leave that war. When Bush lied about WMDs, no one thought about getting out of that war after they knew he lied. It's this festering of lies that cause our public discourse to fall into the toilet. They lie, we catch them, they lie again, we catch them, they lie again and again and again.
All of the people Democrats nominated to be president in my lifetime are intelligent. I haven't seen one remotely smart republican. They appear to admire liars and dumb people. So let's begin there. |
