Regarding the use of a computer to primary screen a Pap smear....
1. I would not want to rely on a computer to do this work if I could have a cytologist do it.
2. I would not want to bet my path lab if I had one on the skills of a computer when I could have the resources of cytologists to do this work.
I see no problem with a computer used as a back-up to do this screening, but not as the primary screener.
If anyone on this thread has viewed a Pap smear, they would understand my point. That is why I think that Accumed will beat Neopath and the FDA will not grant primary screening status to Neopath.
I rest my case.
