According to statistics, by the end of 1997, a total of 13 million VCDs have been manufactured in China. The total sales is around 11 million. The market concentrates on the relatively developed big cities and some medium-sized cities. 10 to 12 million VCD and VCD combined stereo sets are expected to be sold combined stereo sets are expected to be sold on the domestic market in 1998.
