If MERCED systems become the industry de facto standard at the expense of Sun's Ultrasparc II/UltraSParc III systems, you can bet they (Sun) will try and capture the Operating System sales for Solaris to run on those Merceds. Sun wants to make money - and they think software is s good route to that end - witness the enormous effort on development and marketing of JAVA. Paul
