The US is a democracy. A democracy is a government that has elected representatives or a true democracy in which the people vote on every issue. Needless to say, our founding fathers were correct in assuming people are simply too dumb and/or too easily manipulated to run a government so they gave us representative democracy. The "we're not a democracy" rant seems to have taken off recently but it's another republican talking point and nothing more. I don't fall for the latest talking point. Btw, my second language is Russian.
