So what happens when a guy makes a great sideline catch, falls into a cameraman or hits an object lying in the ground, and drops the ball? As maintaining possession after hitting the ground has no exceptions, I would think it would be no catch, but perhaps a 15 yard penalty if done intentionally? I think there's some obscure rule that would allow someone running down the field en route to a score to be granted a touchdown if tackled by someone from the sidelines who runs onto the field, but for all I know someone who is standing on the sidelines is not required to move if someone is about to land on him.
